You can cut down load times on a MacBook by adding a solid-state disk drive to the system; however, the drive won't do you any good unless it is formatted correctly for Mac OS. The only difference between a Mac hard drive and a PC hard drive is what file system it's formatted in; Mac hard drives usually come formatted in FAT32, which will work on both Macs and PCs, but isn't optimal for the MacBook's operating system. PC formatted hard drives use the NTFS file system and need to be reformatted to work with Mac computers. But you can open HFSExplorer, read a Mac-formatted drive, and copy the files to your Windows PC without paying a dime. It can also mount Mac.dmg disk images to get at the files inside them. This application’s read-only nature isn’t necessarily a bad thing. OpenJSCAD.org is a free online STL file viewer. It is built on OpenJsCad and OpenSCAD.org. The STL file viewer provides a programmer’s approach to view and develop 3D models. In particular, this enhancement is tuned towards creating precise models for 3D printing. Similarly to OpenSCAD, you don’t use interactive modeling tools to create 3D models. Online viewer for mac files on pc. Windows has absolutely no support for the Mac hard disk file format (HFS+). This means that if you connect a Mac formatted drive to Windows, you’ll simply get a blank drive letter and a message asking to format the disk. If you click Cancel, you’ll just get a message stating that the volume does not contain a recognized file system. Oct 13, 2010 One of the replies listed a number of USB extensions that were said to be necessary, especially USB Mass Storage Support, and recommended installing OS 9.2.2 to make sure it was present and selected. I have OS 9.2.2 and it isn't present, so I can't select it. Tips • External SSDs can be connected using USB or Thunderbolt connection while internal SSDs can be connected to the Macbook using external enclosures or as a secondary drive inside a optical-drive-to-hard-drive mount in models with an optical drive. MacBooks that do not have an optical drive bay either need to swap out the old hard drive for the SSD or use an external enclosure. The MacBook will have to sacrifice using the optical drive to use the second hard drive. Wd passport ultra ntfs for mac. If you are swapping out the hard drive for the SSD, Mac OS X will format the drive as a part of the operating system reinstallation process. Installing an internal SSD involves taking apart the MacBook. • Only Mac OS X running systems can read the HFS+/Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format and only Windows running systems can read the NTFS format without installing non-native drivers. However, both Macs and PCs can read the FAT32 and ExFAT file systems. I am intending to buy a large (ca. 200 Gb) external hard disk and need it to be capable of transferring files *from* a PC (Windows XP) *to* a Mac (G4, OS 9.2.2) (though not from Mac to PC). I know from experience that this is possible. What I don't know - being, I'm afraid, a complete ignoramus in such matters - whether this is possible as a matter of course with all IDE drives using a USB connection or with only some kinds of drives or whether some special formatting is required. Any enlightnment would be greatly appreciated. Lc101 driver for mac free. ![]() ![]() TIA - Fergus Lalor. You can then unplug it from one machine and plug it into the other and easily use it for transfers or as a backup solution for both. If you plug both computers into it at the same time, only one will 'see' it, though. FYI, some files on the Mac may not be able to be copied to an MS-DOS formatted drive because the Mac OS allows characters that DOS does not. Just make sure ahread of time not to use any funny characters like '/'. I have a 250GB drive in a USB 2.0 enclosure I share between my XP notebook and Powerbook. I also use my IPOD to share files between systems. If the drive is formatted using NTFS, you will have only read access to the drives in OS X.
